Mugdock Country Park & Castle (CANCELLED)

Join us for a walk in Mugdock Country park with a visit to Mugdock Castle along the route. This walk starts from Caulders Car park and transverses through beautiful woodland and passes the stunning Mugdock Loch. Dogs are welcome on this walk but must be kept on a lead. Appropriate footwear and outerwear is required. Although the majority of this route has good paths, some of the route may be muddy. The estimated distance of this route is 3.5 miles. Toilets and refreshments are available at the garden centre or visitor square.

Orrest Head Walk (CANCELLED)

This 4km route begins at Windermere Train Station and summits the fell Orrest Head, famously known as the first fell climbed by Alfred Wainwright. The occasionally challenging route with some steep sections, winds its way up through Elleray Wood, with 120m of ascent to take you to a high point of 238m where you are rewarded with 360º views over Windermere and the central fells. There is a scooter, wheelchair and pushchair friendly version of this route available, please enquire with the event organiser for more details. Dogs are welcome but must be kept on a lead at all times. Appropriate footwear and outerwear is required. The start point for this route is Windermere Station, which has regular train services from Kendal, Oxenholme and beyond on the Lakes Line. Frequent bus services also call at Windermere Station linking many local destinations including Ambleside, Bowness and Kendal. There is parking in Windermere village and a car park at Broad Street.

Claife Heights, Moss Eccles Tarn & Far Sawrey

A beautiful walk of mixed terrain starting from Far Sawrey. This walk ventures through Farmland, hillside and woodland and passes Moss Eccles Tarn, famous for being owned by Beatrix Potter until passed over to the National Trust. This walk boasts views over the distant Lake District Fells and Windermere. Dogs are welcome but must be kept on a lead at all times due to the route passing through farmland. Appropriate walking footwear is required as although some of this route follows a fairly easy path, parts of this route are uneven and the woodland sections may be muddy and slippery. Limited parking is available at Braithwaite Hall, directly across from the Cuckoo Brown Inn, if using this car park please add a donation to the donation box in the carpark. Optional stop off at the Cuckoo Brown Inn for food/drinks afterwards.
