16th Quinquagesimal Sherborne Reunion

Thursday 24 September 2026
Quinquagesimal (Founded 1995) 16th Quinquagesimal Sherborne Reunion Thursday 24 September 2026 The Q Committee is delighted to invite all Old Shirburnians who left Sherborne in 1975 or earlier to the 16th Quinquagesimal Reunion at Sherborne. Q is the section of the OSS for those who left the School more than 50 years ago. It remains a vibrant and thriving group, and our reunions provide a wonderful opportunity to revisit familiar surroundings, renew old friendships, share memories and enjoy the company of fellow OS. Many members attend on their own and newcomers are assured of a particularly warm welcome. As with previous reunions at Sherborne, wives and partners are most welcome. We have planned what we hope will be an enjoyable and stimulating day. Registration and coffee will be available in the BSR from 10.15am, followed by our traditional Chapel Service at 11.00am. Before lunch, OS President Richard Madley (a 75), known to many as the auction expert on the BBC television programme Bargain Hunt, will entertain us with stories from his remarkable experience as auctioneer for the Indian Premier League between 2008 and 2018. Auctioning Impressionist paintings and Chinese works of art worth millions of dollars is one thing—but how do you put a price on Shane Warne, Adam Gilchrist, Chris Gayle and Mahendra Singh Dhoni? After lunch, our own Mastermind finalist, OSS Secretary, John Harden (g 70), will give his account of the 1953 ascent of Everest. Afternoon tea will be served in good time for those wishing to make an early start on their journey home. The cost of the day, including morning coffee, pre-lunch drinks, lunch with wine and afternoon tea, is £40 per person.

The cod wars were raging with the French….. The Duffers and the Green Ribbon societies were in full swing MJT was in concert And Carmina Burana was competing with 12th Night for the Commem top attraction. There had never been so many Prefects……….. And the 1st XV was unbeaten…………. So come and join your 1976 classmates and surprise guests for a wonderful catch-up lunch, with quiz and prizes, as well as the now famous lecture by Love (a76), “How we changed Sherborne time in 1976”.
