FUNGI SUNDAY at Allotment Soup – UK Fungus Day celebration
Sunday 6 October 2024
In celebration of UK Fungus Day, an afternoon of mushroom growing & performance with Art Gene. Open to all. Under 18s accompanied by adult. Free / optional donation.
1-1.40pm – Learn about the ‘Garden of Sensory Delights’ – Add edible fungi to the plot we’ve been co-designing with people who identify as neurodivergent.
1.45-2.30pm – Morels & music: enjoy fungi inspired music whilst spreading Morel spores at the orchard.
2.35-3.35pm – Join the mush-club. Help us plug edible fungi logs to be donated to Art Gene & other community spaces. There are several roles suitable for different abilities & ages.
3.40pm – Final performance & participatory music-making in partnership with live plants & fungi (LIVE STREAMED to MT CIC)
4pm – Finish, but welcome to enjoy refreshments & snacks provided by Art Gene before you leave.

Flourishing Futures : Freaky Creatures

Come celebrate our tiniest freaky creatures and explore why they matter. Fantastical fungi. Cunning slime moulds. Holy worms. Without these often overlooked decomposers there'd be no space for new growth.
Expect the unexpected from these non-conformers. Unusual exhibits, new mushroom plots, and off-kilter activities for all ages.
This event is by optional donation to our "Community Tree & Fungi Fund" thanks to funding from Ulverston Town Council, CGP, and CAfS.

Sunny opening eve to celebrate Solar Made Easy coming to town. Learn about the scheme and how to sign-up + enjoy sunny performances, and drop-in art-making for all ages. Event co-ordinated by Mycelium Thinking CIC, Solar Made Easy (CAfS), Ulverston Town Council, and Greensparks.
Free entrance. Under 18s welcome with a responsible adult. Start planning your sunshine-themed performance - mic open near the end of the night. Red Rose, 6-9pm.
MT CIC "Flourishing Futures" project hosts spaces for imagining a zero emission fully flourishing Ulverston town, with a focus on positive network building & community-powered fun.

A mycelial retreat combining together outdoor learning and creative exercises in a beautiful woodland setting.
Furness Outdoor Learning will lead a morning of bushcraft activities, we will follow with a relaxed circle including stories & creative writing exercises around the campfire.
We hope our retreats, workshops and events will foster increased nature connectedness, beneficial for the mushrooming of our healthier selves, as well as deepening care for the health of our natural world.
