Fungi Futures - Finale Webinar

We'll be sharing the mushrooms of our creative fungi project, with guest speaker & PhD agroecology researcher Todd Jenkins, DIY low impact mushroom growing info, and nourishing group activities inspired by mycelial metaphors. Useful for: community organisers, creative practitioners, land workers, home growers, eco activists + professional growers interested in creative / community engagement & learning about emissions data. This "Fungi Futures" project has been a celebration of fungi's potential to nourish our bodies, minds & wider communities. Our artful activities promoted the transformative power of mushrooms through a "grow your own" ethos, cultivating community, sustainable food & creative connection. Our artful activities will promote the transformative power of mushrooms through a "grow your own" ethos, cultivating community, sustainable food & creative connection. These hands-on community workshops will go beyond practical cultivation skills & include diverse creative activities inspired by the metaphors of fungi. Alongside learning about mushroom growing and bringing fungi to community spaces, we're planning fun activities that promote self-awareness, connection & creative play. FUNGI SUNDAY at Allotment Soup – UK Fungus Day celebration

Sunday 6 October 2024
In celebration of UK Fungus Day, an afternoon of mushroom growing & performance with Art Gene. Open to all. Under 18s accompanied by adult. Free / optional donation. 1-1.40pm – Learn about the ‘Garden of Sensory Delights’ – Add edible fungi to the plot we’ve been co-designing with people who identify as neurodivergent. 1.45-2.30pm – Morels & music: enjoy fungi inspired music whilst spreading Morel spores at the orchard. 2.35-3.35pm – Join the mush-club. Help us plug edible fungi logs to be donated to Art Gene & other community spaces. There are several roles suitable for different abilities & ages. 3.40pm – Final performance & participatory music-making in partnership with live plants & fungi (LIVE STREAMED to MT CIC) 4pm – Finish, but welcome to enjoy refreshments & snacks provided by Art Gene before you leave. (Part of our ‘Flourishing Furness’ series funded by the Westmorland & Furness Council Nature & Climate partnership grant.)
