CYTC present The Importance of Being Earnest Sun 29 May 7:30
In 2026 Cornwall Youth Theatre Company (CYTC) present their version of The Importance of Being Earnest (TIOBE), a farcical comedy depicting the tangled affairs of two young men about town who lead double lives, exploring the farcical situations they find themselves in as a result of evading unwanted social obligations. TIOBE is one of Oscar Wilde’s most famous plays, and is the final play of his four drawing room productions, which premiered in 1895.
In the CYTC version expect the famous wit and humour that Wilde has become famous for to shine through. This production will place emphasis on showcasing Wilde’s strong characterisation, fast, paced wit and the repartee between its characters.
TIOBE will tour to venues across Cornwall in March and April 2026.
