Beyond Bias: Confronting Misogyny as a Leadership Issue
About
A strategic, thought-provoking session for leaders who want to build safer, modern workplaces where misogyny - in all its forms - is recognised, challenged and prevented.
As Scotland’s first anti-misogyny workplace service, Change The Chat works with leaders to understand how structural misogyny, gendered norms and everyday micro-aggressions shape organisational culture, often in ways that go unseen by senior teams.
Misogyny isn’t just a women’s issue. It impacts culture, risk, retention, performance and organisational trust. It harms everyone (including men) by reinforcing unhelpful norms about who gets heard, who gets space and who feels safe to speak up.
This session will help leaders:
- understand what misogyny looks like in modern workplaces
- spot subtle micro-aggressions and everyday silencing behaviours
- see how organisational structures and systems can reinforce inequality
- explore the role men can play as allies and gatekeepers
- recognise the impact on culture, psychological safety and staff voice
- make practical changes that reduce harm and strengthen trust
- lead conversations about misogyny without defensiveness or fear
- take the first steps in creating a culture that is genuinely safe for everyone
With real examples from the sector, this is an inclusive conversation about culture, responsibility and the future of leadership in Scotland’s voluntary sector. Perfect for leaders who want to understand the problem clearly, act confidently and be part of meaningful change.
