Voices of Victory: Author Event with Geraint Jones
About
Discover the forgotten story of Britain's final campaign against Nazi Germany, with Sunday Times bestselling author Geraint Jones, during an interactive 90-min presentation and Q&A. Hosted by military & aviation art gallery, Aces High, in Steventon, Oxfordshire.February, 1945... Eight months have passed since the D-Day landings, when the Allies gained their foothold in North-West Europe. Since then the British Liberation Army has fought nearly continuously against the German military. Now, they stand ready for their final test: the battle for the German homeland.
Drawing on the sound archive of the Imperial War Museums and other personal accounts, military historian and former soldier Geraint Jones brings this often-overlooked period of the war vividly to life.
Please join us as we:
✅ Break through the Siegfried Line during Operation Veritable, advancing into the hellish Reichswald Forest where fighting was from one tree to the next.
✅ Fly into action across the Rhine on Operation Varsity with the soldiers who had famously seized Pegasus Bridge on D-Day, but who will now face their deadliest day of the war.
✅ Witness the commandos in one of their most daring, and little known battles - an action that would lead directly to the army’s discovery of the infamous Belsen concentration camp.
And much more!
For too long the battles that British soldiers fought in Germany have been treated as an afterthought. As we will learn from the experiences of the soldiers who were there, the final months of the war were just as bloody, trying, and vital for Victory in Europe as any other.
Geraint Jones is a former infantry soldier who served in Iraq and Afghanistan. He has written more than two dozen military themed books, including collaborations with James Patterson. He is the author of the Sunday Times bestselling Voices of Victory, and the Number 1 bestselling D-Day: The Unheard Tapes.
