Unconscious Parenting
About
The parental task is complicated, regardless of if it’s our child, others, or ourselves that we are seeking to parent. What often ends up happening then is much of the parental task gets pushed into our unconscious process, this can become problematic if our own experience or our clients’ experience within the parental process (usually how they were parented) has any challenges, such as abuse, trauma, unhelpful scripting. In this one-day training course we will explore how these unhelpful patterns can be formed, through societal parenting, unconscious shame, and relational patterns. We will go on to consider how we might spot, and practically engage with these both for ourselves as well as for our clients.This will be an online course running from 9:30am until 5pm on the 26th of June. This course is aimed at trainee and qualified counsellors and psychotherapists, and costs £90.
