BLUE STOCKINGS by Jessica Swale.
The play is set in 1896 at Girton College, Cambridge, at a time when women could study but were not awarded degrees. The play follows a group of female students and their lecturers as they prepare for a vote that will decide whether women should be granted full academic recognition. Through a series of interconnected stories, Blue Stockings examines education, gender, and social expectations in late Victorian England. It explores the personal cost of progress, the tension between tradition and change, and the differing views held by both men and women about women’s roles in society.
