An A-Z of Beatrix Potter takes you on a journey through 26 key words and phrases drawn from Beatrix Potter’s children’s books, letters, journals and other writings via a selection of drawings, manuscripts, and other objects relating to her work and legacy.Dr Penny Bradshaw is the author of the book, An A-Z of Beatrix Potter (Bloomsbury Academic, 2026), and has co-curated this book-tie-in exhibition with The Armitt.
At this event, Penny will explore some of the ideas and approaches which underpin the exhibition, she will discuss a small number of the alphabetical areas in more detail, and will also be able to answer participant questions on other exhibits and themes.
About the speaker
Dr Penny Bradshaw is an Associate Professor of English Literature at the University of Cumbria and Programme Leader for the University’s MA Literature, Romanticism, and the English Lake District, which includes a module on children's literature. Penny specialises in and publishes on regional literary contexts, and her latest publication is An A-Z of Beatrix Potter (Bloomsbury Academic, 2026).
