This is a brief look at the life of a woman who fought for an education, supported herself by her writing, travelled to America to campaign against slavery and finally settled in Ambleside, taking up walking, writing about the social issues of the time and helping to improve the lives of people in the town.About the speaker
Terry has always been a keen amateur historian and a mountain walker, combining the two in learning about the landscape we live in. Moving to Lancashire in the 1980's meant he was closer to the hills and could explore this subject more. Retirement from the Probation Service has also given Terry the opportunity to lead walks in the area and help others to understand the nature of this area where we live. Living in Silverdale means he enjoys the countryside everyday!
