Talking Culture: Public Discussion Group
About
Free, booking required
Talking Culture is a series of friendly discussions where curious people can come together to think, talk, and explore today’s major issues.
The next session will reflect on the events leading up to the Grenfell fire and explore why accountability remains difficult in the current context. It will consider themes including social housing, safety, necropolitics, and whose voices are heard within political processes.
Attendees are also welcome to bring their own reflections or areas of interest - no prior knowledge is required
Dr Paul Jones (University of Liverpool, Department of Sociology, Social Policy and Criminology) will frame the discussion, focusing on questions of who can do what, when, and with whom.
Future topics under consideration include the impact of AI and social media, the meaning of social class today, contemporary masculinity, and the legal status of drugs.
Please note: the building will be closed to the public from 5pm. Ring the doorbell on the right-hand side of the main entrance, and a member of staff will welcome you in.
