GCSE Booster Revision programme at Downside - Physics

Starting February 23rd Downside School warmly invites pupils for additional GCSE tuition to students in the local community. Whether you need a confidence boost or extra exam practice, our experienced teachers are here to help. Sessions run Monday - Thursday 17.10-18.10 in English, Chemistry, Spanish, French, Physics, Mathematics. (Minimum of 3 pupils required for classes to run).This GCSE Physics Booster course is led by Mr. P Rigby, an experienced and highly regarded Mathematics and Physics specialist with over 30 years of experience in education and a genuine enthusiasm for helping students succeed.
Mr. Rigby graduated from the University of St Andrews with a degree in Mathematics and Theoretical Physics, before beginning his career as Head of Physics in a top-10 state school. Since then, he has taught Physics, Mathematics and Further Mathematics, and has held a range of senior leadership roles including Head of Physics, Head of Science, and Head of Sixth Form across both state and selective independent day and boarding schools.
Alongside his school-based roles, Mr. Rigby has tutored students throughout his career, specialising in GCSE and A Level Physics and Mathematics. This extensive experience gives him a deep understanding of exam board requirements, curriculum developments, and the wider pressures students face during exam preparation.
Mr. Rigby is known for his friendly, supportive teaching style and his ability to break down complex concepts into clear, manageable steps. He makes frequent use of real-world applications and intuitive explanations to help students understand challenging ideas and build confidence. The sessions are designed to be accessible, engaging, and highly focused on exam success, ensuring students feel secure in their understanding and well prepared for their GCSE Physics examinations.
