A talk and discussion about the corpse roads that criss-cross Cumbria. These ancient paths were used in medieval times to take the dead to the ‘mother’ church for burial but around 30 still survive as public footpaths. The talk will look at the history of the corpse roads, the evidence for their routes and the legends and customs surrounding them.Alan Cleaver
