Profitable and nature friendly farming in N. Lancs & Bowland
About
Do you farm in the Forest of Bowland or surrounding North Lancashire area? Are you interested in practical approaches to improving both the financial and environmental sustainability of your farm?Join this farmer-focused event made possible through FiPL funding to find out more about:
- how to maximize profitability on your farm by balancing production with nature, and identifying the ‘sweet spot’ to improve financial and environmental resilience (an approach known as ‘maximum sustainable output’ or ‘MSO’),
- new high-res land use maps which highlight opportunities for nature recovery,
- opportunities to diversify production and develop routes to local markets.
The event starts with a free hot supper followed by an interactive session led by Chris Clark of Nethergill Associates, Henry Russell of Russell Regen and Rachel Marshall from FoodFutures. You’ll also hear about the experience of local farmers who have been through the MSO process with Chris and there will be plenty of opportunities to connect with other farmers throughout the evening.
This event is primarily for farmers although there will be some spaces available for people who work as farm advisors.
This event and the wider project is funded by the Forest of Bowland ‘Farming in Protected Landscapes Fund’ with additional support from the FoodFutures’ Closing Loops project. If you are unable to make this event there is a similar event taking place on the morning of 10th March at Silverdale Golf Club. Find out more here: www.trybooking.com/uk/FYVL
