Make Music Work returns on Friday 17 April 2026, bringing together musicians, creators and industry voices for a day of conversation and connection. Taking place at 229 London, this year’s event is designed to help you navigate the realities of working in music today.
From the impact of AI and protecting creators’ rights, to building a sustainable career and supporting wellbeing, Make Music Work offers expert-led discussion, live music and plenty of time to network with fellow musicians and industry professionals.

What does a sustainable music career look like in 2026? This panel examines the realities of portfolio working, digital platforms, live performance and funding, offering honest insight and practical advice for building a career that lasts.
Justice for creators in the age of AI
Drawing on our ground-breaking new AI report, this timely and thought-provoking session will explore what AI means for our creative industries, and what must be done now to protect creators before it’s too late.
Sound minds: Music and wellbeing
This panel explores wellbeing in and through music, looking at musicians’ mental and physical health alongside music’s wider role in society. From music therapy to postnatal and palliative care, we will explore how supporting musicians and prioritising music can improve health across communities.
Social media masterclass
Join us for this exclusive, practical masterclass designed to help you cut through the noise online, build an engaged audience and make social media work for your music.
Members can book now for £20 or £8 for students and non-members can book for £25 or £15 for students. These are our early bird discounted rates which are running until 1 March.
ISM members will be asked to provide their ISM membership number when booking. This can be found on your membership card or in your members' area on the website.

ISM Annual General Meeting (open to ISM members only)
9.30am - 11.15am
The formal business of the ISM will be conducted at the AGM. ISM members can also take part in an open forum, ask their questions to the board, and discuss matters that are of importance to them. If you would just like to attend the AGM (this would be free of charge) and not the rest of the day please email events@ism.org and if you can't attend in-person, register for the livestream here.
