As part of our Five Families of Wine promotion, we invite you to join you to join us in the GWC Shop on Tuesday 20th and Wednesday 21st to taste a selection of wines from Sutherland and Thelema.
The Webb family has shaped South African wine for decades. Gyles Webb started Thelema in 1983 and quickly gained a reputation as one of Stellenbosch’s most respected estates, known for its classy Cabernet Sauvignon and vibrant Chardonnay. Today, Gyles has passed the winery down to his son Thomas, who has continued Thelema’s extremely high standards. Alongside their Stellenbosch estate, the family also purchased the Sutherland Estate in 2002 in the cooler Elgin Valley, producing wines that are generally lighter, with outstanding balance, freshness, and finesse.
