Sailing Morning - Old Cokethorpean
About
Fancy getting back out on the water? We’re inviting Old Cokethorpeans to join us for a relaxed morning of sailing and light-hearted racing, bringing together familiar faces and rekindling the spirit of those school day adventures. It’s the perfect chance to reconnect, share a bit of friendly competition, and enjoy time afloat in true Cokethorpe style. This will be the first year of the Old Cokethorpeans Sailing Morning, and we’ll be heading out in Fusion dinghies, which offer the best blend of performance and accessibility for mixed experience groups. To add a touch of friendly rivalry, the winning boat will have their name engraved on a new trophy created especially for this event, marking the start of what we hope becomes a long-standing OC tradition.
All participants will need to be capable of sailing a dinghy independently to an RYA Level 2 standard, meaning they can handle a small boat safely without direct supervision in light to moderate conditions. Full safety cover, equipment, and on-water coaching will be provided throughout the morning by our qualified sailing staff, following Oxford Sail Training Trust procedures.
Refreshments will be available from the Café at Farmoor.
There is a £30 event fee, which covers boat use, safety cover, coaching, and venue support. To secure your place, please click Book Now to complete the response form.
The day will be hosted by our sailing coach George Barker and Head of Outdoor Education, Tom Slader. Spaces may be limited depending on fleet capacity, so early responses are much appreciated.
We look forward to welcoming you back onto the water.
Registration closes on Friday 27 March.
