About
Bringing the worlds of education and commerce together: a practical workshop focused on building influencing skillsThe educational and commercial aspects of a school’s functioning are often work in parallel, sometimes even conflicting or competing. The education function is seen as central, traditional and defines the decision making, whilst the enterprise function is perceived as a necessary side-line, tolerated and secondary. For the whole school team, the shift from rival or parallel functioning to integrated, partnership functioning, is a painful and necessary shift. Income from school fees can no longer fund quality education delivery sustainably; commercial activities are necessary and vital to ensuring the future of schools.
The mindsets of entrepreneurial professionals and those of educators are different.
This workshop will explore how those with innovative and creative commercial ideas for schools, can communicate, negotiate and influence educator decision-makers in the schools. Practical hints from emotional and social intelligence and neuroscience will be shared and explored and can be immediately applied.
For anyone working in a school commercial department.
