Film programme:

“My favorite job”, 2022

director Sashko Protyah, 3D generalist – Vova Morrow.

Duration 32’18’’

In the spring of 2022, the Ukrainian city of Mariupol was surrounded by Russian troops. They were using the weapons of mass destruction against the civilian population every day. In mid-March volunteers started evacuating people from Mariupol to Zaporizhzhia. They gathered after each trip to exchange the information, support each other, and talk about their traumatic experiences.

“Victory ASMR” (work-in-progress)

director, camera, editing – Yulia Appen

producers and camera – Yulia Serdyukova and Sashko Protyah

duration: 29'42''

The documentary follows a community of women in Eskhar, a town near the front line in the Kharkiv region, who weave camouflage nets, helmet covers, warm socks and other items for Ukrainian soldiers. The women refer to the soldiers as “boys” and regard them as family, since many local men have also joined the army. While working, the volunteers talk, and their conversation gradually reveal how the war has affected the town. We hear war in their words, and at the same time – we see blooming flowers and fruit‑bearing trees all over the town. Be the first to watch this film as a work-in-progress, before it has been officially screened in Ukraine and in Europe.

All proceedings go to the Filmmakers Collective volunteer project.
