British Sign Language - Beginner Course
About
Level 1 BSL which equates to a GCSE consists of three modules. This course covers the first module (101). This module is recognised in its own right but there will be the opportunity for you to continue and study modules 102 and 103 afterwards. The course is certified by the only recognised BSL examination board- Signature.Module 101 (An Introduction to BSL) will cover the following:
Jargon
Lip reading and associated difficulties
BSL official alphabet & practice
Questions around BSL & BSL grammar
Greetings
Weather
Directions
Finger spelling
Essentially, the aim of the module is that after completing it, you should feel capable of having a basic conversation with someone.
There is the option to take an exam, certified and recognised by Signature. This exam costs £25. This is in addition to the course fees and will be charged separately.
