Y12 Higher Education Information Evening
About
An Information Evening focused on the procedure for making an application to university. The evening will be delivered by an outreach officer from the University of Exeter, who will explain what universities are looking for in applicants and the different factors that need to be considered. This will be followed by an opportunity to ask any questions you may have regarding the overall procedure.
This event will address: choice of course; choice of universities; the UCAS application process; an introduction to personal statements. Students will also be steered through the UCAS process in form time, with plenty of support offered at all stages, including a focus after Easter on writing personal statements. We are also planning a post-18 information day in May for students.
The process for university applications starts in the summer term of Year 12, although through our RESPECT form time curriculum, we are encouraging students to start looking at universities and courses now. We will also ensure all students register for UCAS by the end of the summer term and UCAS entries will need to be completed as soon as possible on returning to school in the September of Year 13, especially for those applying to ‘early entry courses (our internal deadline for ‘early entry’ courses is 15th September).
Each CSGS student to be accompanied by one parent/guardian only, due to seating limits in the Lecture Theatre.
Please arrive for 6.00pm, talks will commence promptly and the event will run until 7.00pm. Car parking is available on site.
One ticket covers the student and one parent/guardian.
