Based on the Miramax motion picture by Juliet Towhidi & Tim Firth, Calendar Girls celebrates friendship, resilience, and the quiet power of ordinary women to challenge expectations, blending humour and heartbreak in a story about loss, dignity and collective courage.
Our story begins with the close friendship between Annie Clarke and Chris Harper. Annie’s husband John is diagnosed with leukaemia, and the Women’s Institute rallies around her. When John passes away, the group is left grappling with grief, while Chris grows increasingly frustrated with the limits of traditional
fundraising. She wants to raise real money for leukaemia research in John’s memory and proposes an
outrageous idea: a nude calendar featuring the WI women themselves!
