Markmaking - shape and line Experimental Workshop.Gemma Petrie - exhibiting in the Gallery 29th May - 19th July 2026
Artist Gemma Petrie will be in the Gallery on Saturday 30th May for a loose, informal workshop session sharing some of her work and processes. This will be a chance to experiment with mixed materials and varied experimental approaches.
Using watercolours, acrylics, pencil, oil pastel, stencil and spray-paint on different paper surfaces you will have a chance to play and explore the materials with Gemma's guidance .
Bring some initial source images: drawings, photos, cut outs or sketched subject matter to give you a starting point , as Gemma herself will share some of the inputs and sources of her work.
This is will be a relaxed workshop session, an opportunity to play and explore the possibilities of materials and surface.

"I am a visual artist, working and living near in the North East of the Highlands. Mainly working with water based paint and drawing materials, creating abstracted figurative and biomorphic works using symbols, motifs, colours, and patterns from everyday life, the landscape that I am immersed in and moments from the past. Focusing on the surface of our environment, how it holds the past, present and future simultaneously and thinking about what our place is within this space."
