In The Footsteps of Banryu [Summit Fever Media]
An intimate mountain adventure film that traces a modern-day journey through Japan’s Northern Alps, inspired by the legacy of Banryu, an ascetic monk and pioneering mountaineer who first climbed the iconic Mount Yari.

Photographer and trail runner Jake Baggaley joins forces with alpine guide Sam from Chamonix and elite Japanese athletes Aoi and Yusuke for a fastpacking expedition across the notorious Daikiretto ridge.

Home Grown Here [Dom Bush]

Skinny [Emily Cartigny]
“Life, I realised, is very short and very precious and if you have even the spark of a dream, however big or small, you owe it to yourself to try and make that dream come true.”

When author Jo Moseley recognised a new dream shortly after her 60th birthday, she knew exactly the right person to ask for help in making that dream come true: fellow author and Lake District local, Sara Barnes.

Skinny is a feel-good and moving testament to the freedom of ageing and the unexpected forging of connection when one person reaches out their hand to help another. Skinny reminds us that we’re not too old and it’s never too late to dream — to rewrite the stories we tell ourselves about who we are and what makes our souls burn brighter.

Bogs: The Magic of Peat [2b13 Productions]
Framed in the foothills of England’s tallest mountains and the surrounding areas of Eskdale, Matterdale, and Watermillock, beautifully composed master interviews sit between dreamy contextual imagery of fantastical peat bogs, brought to life by delicate sound design and a whimsical score.

Conservationist Mel Sugden, along with her peaty volunteers Jane Beenstock, Una Gordan, and Dave Charles, share their excitement for a place often overlooked and misunderstood. This film aims to finally shed a light on these weird and wonderful habitats, to educate as many people as possible on why we should care about and protect them.

The survival of peatlands depends on us. And our survival depends on them.

Calanais: Still in Motion [Jonathan Doyle Media and Freya Pellie]
A collaboration between multidisciplinary performance artist Freya Pellie and space scientist turned filmmaker Dr Jonathan Doyle, Calanais: Still in Motion is the output of the inaugural Calanais Residency. Commissioned to capture the significance of the Calanais Standing Stones during the major Lunar Standstill in June 2025, Calanais: Still in Motion is an intersection of science and folklore. Informed by the sites themselves, social observations, conversations with those met along the way, and research across fields, the work centres around Calanais as a gathering place through the ages.

In Masa : 居場所 (The Place Where I Am)
We root ourselves in exploring the concepts of home and belonging – and what those mean to Masa Sakano. Blending together Scottish and Japanese landscape, culture and language, the film will take us from the icy crags of the Scottish mountains, to Masa‘s home in the shadow of the Cairngorms, and back to his roots and family connections in rural Japan.

--- INTERVAL ---

The Circuit of Cornwall [Stone Visuals UK]
Join ultrarunner Dr Elsey Davis as she shares the grit, heartbreak, and purpose behind her record-breaking 400-mile run of Cornwall’s perimeter to raise money for Alzheimer’s Research. Watch The North Face athlete turn exhaustion into strength and loss into motivation - proving that endurance is as much about heart as it is about miles.

Back for Tea Time [Friction Collective]
Set in the remote [landlocked] island of Knoydart, it follows Alice as she makes her way down to the store for some supplies, looking to be back by tea time.

Find Mór (28 minute Festival cut) + Q&A [Deepwild Creative]
Exploration. Community. Discovery.
Scotland still has its mysteries roaring in remote glens and sometimes hidden in plain sight. Find Mòr follows a group of canyoneers over the span of two years as they embark on a journey of exploration into the hidden corners of the Scottish Highlands.

The film offers a unique perspective from within the relatively unknown niche community and discovers the myriad motivations that drive this passion of curiosity. Having set off in search of uncharted canyons, they find true adventure and connection, to people and place.

"You come for the canyons but stay for the people."
