Thamesmead & Crossness Guided Tour
About
Get ready for an unforgettable day of discovery! We’ll kick things off with a fascinating guided walk through Thamesmead, a bold and visionary “new town” born in the 1960s—packed with unique design, history, and hidden stories waiting to be uncovered.
Next, we’ll relax and refuel with lunch at the vibrant Thamesmead Social at the Lakeside Centre. Prefer to bring your own? Enjoy your packed lunch outdoors in a scenic setting—or treat yourself to something delicious from the café.
Then the adventure continues as our expert guide, Rob Harris, leads us to the breath taking Crossness Pumping Station—an absolute gem of Victorian architecture and engineering, masterminded by the legendary Joseph Bazalgette. Prepare to be wowed by its ornate design and incredible history!
We’ll start with an engaging introductory video before stepping into a guided tour of this remarkable site. And don’t worry—most of the experience is step-free but will involve a reasonable amount of walking throughout the day.
It’s a perfect blend of history, architecture, and exploration—don’t miss it!
