'Good as Gold', a project for Easter Week at St Austell
About
Good as Gold was a way to describe very well-behaved children in the past! Today they have grown to be Golden Oldies, local people with stories and memories to share. Supported by the Directors of The Market House and staff team at St Austell Library we are offering 3 days of great fun events to enliven the heart of the Old Town.Day 1 is Tuesday 7th April - meet in Palace Road for a free walk with stories from the station, followed by a visit to the new 'Good as Gold' exhibition centre (Unit 20) in the Market House
Day 2 - Wednesday 8th is a Workshop about the White River and Watermills, for small family groups. One or 2 children with an adult costs £10 to cover snacks and materials. We will be playing with water and wheels, drawing and singing. Bring your memories and photos please. Again this is in the Good as Gold centre.
Day 3 has 2 sessions, both hosted by the Library. At 3.30 it is a free one, to focus on forming a 'TWEENS TEAM' for the town. If you are any age from Year 6 to 30 years, come to hear how you can help us by e.g. recording and editing stories, guiding walks or delivering the exhibition events. In return we can help you with training, references and even potentially a qualification or paid work.
We are delighted to conclude with an evening presentation, about the Market House, which will be in the normal format of history talks for the library. Please contact them directly for further information and how to book.
