History Talks @The Minories: Roman Colchester
About
A place called Camulodunum (Gosbecks and Sheepen) and its leader, Cunobelin, wereknown to the Romans even before Claudius invaded in AD 43. After that, a fort and later a
civilian Colony, were built on the hilltop where the High Street is today. This was the
capital of Britannia until Boudicca destroyed it, but the Roman town was rebuilt and
lasted throughout the occupation by the Romans. We will describe all this and point out what can still be seen.
Join us for refreshments at 3pm. Talk starts at 3.30pm.
