John McKennaWith over three decades of design and sculpting experience under his belt, John McKenna bring a vast wealth of expertise and practical design acumen to the table, making him one of the most respected sculptors in Scotland, especially for large-scale public art projects.
From intricate cast bronzes to colossal stainless steel structures, he works with a diverse range of media and subjects.
Born in Manchester, he attended the Victoria Institute of Art & Design, with further studies at Further design studies at Middlesex University and the uniquely prestigious Sir Henry Doulton School of Sculpture, where he studied under the Patronage of the eminent sculptress Dame Elizabeth Frink CH DBE RA.
After spells in Stoke-on-Trent and Worcester, John relocated to a smallholding above Turnberry, where he continues to work on commissions for public bodies, corporations and private individuals.
His work includes Statues of Billy McNeill and Jock Stein, The Allanton Colliery Mining Memorial and the Ship Builders of Port Glasgow Sculpture.
