Powerhouse Ballet May 2026 Anniversary Company Class!Join us in person for our anniversary class at Yorkshire Dance this May.
This is a fun and energetic class for ballet dancers of all levels. Whether you've been dancing for years or only a short time, this session is the perfect chance to connect, learn, push your boundaries and meet other dancers.
Born in West Yorkshire, Jane undertook her early training with the Northern Dance Centre, completing it at Central School of Ballet and Northern Ballet School.
She began her professional career with the Hong Kong Ballet followed by Northern Ballet Theatre.
Gaining Distinction for the Professional Dancers Teaching Diploma at the RAD, London in 2002.
She toured Australia in 2003 undertaking workshops and classes in companies and vocational colleges, and has guest taught and coached for various schools, vocational colleges, companies and summer schools throughout the UK and Ireland, including coaching the original north based Billy and Micheal boys for the West End production of Billy Elliot the Musical and being a core ballet tutor for North West Dance Centre for Advanced Training (CAT) at the Lowry.
Jane has been an external examiner for the Royal Academy of Dance’s Professional Dancers Teaching Diploma and part of the board of directors for Corpi in Mostra, Barletta and guest taught for FormAzione Tersicore in Campania, Napoli, Italy.
At present, alongside being part of the core teaching staff for The Academy of Northern Ballet, where she’s been a member of the teaching faculty since 2003, she does various guest teaching and workshops, RAD vocational syllabus coaching and is a core ballet tutor overseeing the ballet curriculum, planning and development for the CAT programme at Northern School of Contemporary Dance
Class will consist of barre, centre practice, port de bras, pirouettes and allegro, with live pianist Alena Panasenka.
Powerhouse Ballet is a friendly, inclusive amateur adult ballet company. We provide classes, workshops and opportunities for performances across the North of England.
What to bring: water bottle, flat/soft ballet shoes, ballet clothes or yoga pants / strappy top (clothing should be fitted but comfortable so that you can move easily, no denim).
