Join us for Play Needs You, an inspiring half-day playwork conference on Saturday 13 June 2026, for out‑of‑school childcare providers across Brighton & Hove, including Wraparound, HAF programme and Short Breaks providers.

Brighton & Hove City Council has invited Ben Kingston‑Hughes to deliver this interactive event. Known for his engaging and practical approach, Ben will support providers to reflect on the power of play and the unique role of out‑of‑school childcare. With a strong focus on practical activities, inclusion and SEND, the event will support providers to strengthen joyful, child‑centred play experiences.

You will leave with ideas, inspiration and approaches that can be applied immediately in practice.

10:00 – 10:45 Session 1 – The benefits of play
Why play is essential for all children, with inclusive, SEND‑friendly practical approaches.

10:45 – 11:00 Break

11:00 – 12:00 Session 2 – Adults supporting play
Practical playwork strategies, types of play and how wraparound can be distinct from the school day.

12:00 – 13:00 Lunch

13:00 – 14:00 Session 3 – Creating inclusive play environments
Hands‑on ideas for joyful, engaging play environments that support all children, including SEND.

14:00 – 14:30 Closing reflections and Q&A

• Lunch and refreshments provided
• Centrally located on bus routes and plentiful parking (payable on street / Norton Road Car Park) 

This event is fully funded by Brighton & Hove City Council, and offered at no charge to providers.

Places are available on a first-come, first served basis, and booking will be closing on Friday 22 May, please book as early as possible to avoid disapointment.
