Join the Armitt staff as we open our storeroom again for visitors in 2026.21 July session: For this session, we will explore the history of Ambleside through a timeline of objects. Beginning with prehistory and moving on to recognisable names you know and love. This session may also hint towards something exciting happening at The Armitt in 2027!

About the staff leads:
Kat Sier is the Museum Assistant in Collections & Documentation. She has worked at The Armitt for over a year and has been passionate about heritage for a lot longer. Kat graduated with a degree in history from the University of St Andrews, in which she wrote her dissertation on Viking Age Scandinavia. At The Armitt Museum, Kat supports the curator with the development and creation of the main exhibitions, running successful audits of The Armitt's collections and developing temporary exhibitions for smaller events such as Heritage Open Day and the Festival of Archaeology.
Faye Morrissey is the Manager & Curator of The Armitt: Museum, Gallery, Library in Ambleside, Cumbria. For the past five years, Faye has been working to raise the profile of the organisation and develop wider awareness and participation in the museum’s activities, which now includes annually changing exhibitions, an evolving events programme, group visits and community outreach, and the launch of escape box experiences. Previous to this role, Faye held the position of Head of Operations and Visitor Services at Delapré Abbey in Northampton. Faye is originally from Lancashire.
