Ever fancied pushing yourself to draw outdoors—capturing the energy of a busy city, from architecture and street scenes to people going about their everyday lives? Urban sketching is about recording the atmosphere and spirit of a place, often taking creative liberties to tell a story of a moment in time. If that sounds appealing, join us for a relaxed urban sketching excursion led by Natalie.In this three-hour session, a small group of up to 15 participants will explore a variety of locations around Colchester, working in sketchbooks with a range of media. You’ll have the freedom to wander or settle into a spot and draw at your own pace, with the reassurance of being part of a group. We’ll begin at The Minories to outline the plan before heading out, and after around two to two-and-a-half hours we’ll return for an optional cup of tea and informal chat about the experience—no pressure to share your work, just an opportunity to reflect and connect.
Please bring along an A4 or A5 hardback sketchbook.
