Webinar - 'Skills for Independence' for parents and carers
About
Worcestershire Health & Care NHS Trust - Paediatric Occupational Therapy webinars'Skills for Independence' is a webinar for parents and carers of school‑aged children (aged 4-18) with mild to moderate delays in self-care, school or play skills, who need extra support to develop these skills. This is suitable if your child is in a special school, or in a mainstream school if they are significantly behind in their everyday skills.
The session helps you understand how children learn new skills over time and how you as a parent or carer can to teach these skills in a clear, accessible, and meaningful way for your child. You will learn simple, practical strategies that can be used at home to support skills such as dressing, washing or feeding. The focus is on helping you to help your child build confidence and independence at their own pace.
This webinar may not be suitable if your child appears to work mainly at a sensory level (how something feels, looks like, moves, smells) rather than to achieve something (to dress themselves, to feed themselves). If you are unsure whether this is suitable for you, please call us on 01905 681880 or message us on whcnhs.paediatricot@nhs.net
There will also be an opportunity to ask questions around issues that are relevant to you.
The slides will also be emailed to you after you have attended the webinar.
The webinars are run using Microsoft Teams.
If you have any difficulties joining this please call us on 01905 681880.
Please note: This webinar is open only to families who are registered with a Worcestershire GP. If you book onto this webinar and do not meet this eligibility criteria, your booking will unfortunately be cancelled. Some details of your child (eg. name, date of birth) are required when Booking a place on TryBooking, which allows us to check that you are eligible. If these are not provided correctly your place will unfortunately be cancelled.
