Join three of Lancaster University's academics in the intimate Secret Cinema in The Gregson for some deep dives into LGBTQ+ related research themes! We have academics spanning the depth and breadth of the University's disciplines speaking about their areas of interest in three short, half-hour flash talk slots, with our lineup as follows:1pm: Dr Jaime Benjamin, Evolutionary Psychologist (and part-time comedian) takes us on a whistle-stop tour of the intricacies of sexual attraction in her talk "Sex, gender and attraction: it's complicated!"
1.40pm: John Barbrook,1.40pm: John Barbrook, Faculty Librarian, will be delving into the recent surge in data loss and website modification in US federal government websites, and steps that the University Library are taking to address this in "Transerasure and the Missing Web: Anti-LGBTQ+ Politics role in Website Modification and Research Deletion".
2.20pm: Diya Padiyar, postgraduate student in Gender Studies will explore "Pregnancy Beyond Borders and Binaries: Trans and Non-Binary Migrant Experience in UK Healthcare", discussing how first-generation LGBTQ+ migrants navigate our healthcare system, and their experiences and anxieties surrounding their reproductive rights.
All talks will be suitable for an audience aged 16+. Please ensure you book each talk session separately!
