Introduction to Teaching Basketball Workshop - Secondary (SOLD OUT)
Who is the course for?
This workshop is ideal for teachers, individuals on a PGCE pathway and teaching assistants with little or no basketball teaching experience who are working in a secondary school environment.
What will I learn?
By the end of this workshop, learners will be able to:
- Understand the basic rules of the game
- Understand how to deliver engaging basketball through the National Curriculum through a game-based approach
- Plan basketball activities based on basic attacking and defending strategies
- Have an awareness of the Basketball England Player Development Framework and its application into secondary school teaching.
- Explore solutions to common challenges when coaching in a school environment
Learner eligibility
Learners must:
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Be a teacher, on a PGCE pathway or teaching assistant.
- Be able to communicate effectively in English (this includes listening, speaking, reading and writing).
Assessment
Assessment is ongoing throughout the workshop.
Format / duration
The course is usually delivered over 4 hours.
Progression opportunities
This course can lead to further learning or training in the area of coaching basketball and/or other related areas.
