About

We’re having a 10th birthday party and everyone is invited!

Celebrate with us as we look back across the last decade and all the wonderful people we’ve worked with. Our Summer Open Day will bring together artists, community organisations, collaborators and visitors for a day of exhibitions, creative activities and refreshments, celebrating ten years of SCAF’s work across the arts and Living Landscape Community Project garden.

EXHIBITIONS AND CREATIVE HIGHLIGHTS

Michael and Eileen Scott - Archive Collection
A selection of paintings from the SCAF archive exploring the organisation’s history and current projects.

Duncan MacKay - A Way with the Fairies
An installation combining land art, sculpture and text exploring folklore, myth and landscape traditions.

Walter Lewis (SCAFFOLD) - The Field
A photographic series documenting the former community garden and field prior to the development of the LLCP. A selection of photobooks will also be available for sale to raise funds for SCAF.

Yorkshire Adoption Agency and Layla Jabbari - It Takes a Village
Visitors will be able to preview prints from SCAF’s current collaboration with Yorkshire Adoption Agency, ahead of the artworks’ display alongside the Emerging Artist Award exhibition in Doncaster this summer.

SCOTT CREATIVE ARTS FOUNDATION
Founded by Dr Sue Armstrong in 2016, the Foundation was established through the bequest of Michael and Eileen Scott’s artworks and estate. Its aims are to preserve, collate and present the work of Michael and Eileen Scott; to encourage and support emerging artists of all ages and backgrounds in their creative development; and to explore the relationship between human consciousness and creativity.

A friend of the Scotts for over fifteen years, Sue worked closely with Michael throughout the final year of his life in shaping this founding vision.

Scott Creative Arts Foundation (SCAF) is dedicated to supporting artists at the early stages of their journey. Bringing together emerging creatives, offering opportunities for development, collaboration and growth through our annual Emerging Artist Award and exhibitions for artists living and working in Yorkshire.

LIVING LANDSCAPE COMMUNITY PROJECT
The Living Landscape Community Project (LLCP) was created to provide opportunities for people to come together to grow food, care for the land and encourage sustainable, ecologically responsible practices. Launched in 2024 with a small group of volunteers, the project has already begun transforming the field into a thriving community space.

In 2025, the LLCP was selected as one of twelve UK flagship projects in the Together We Grow scheme run by the Peoples Food and Farming Alliance (PFFA). Sculptures from Emerging Artist Award Finalist 2024, Mouse, were also introduced into the garden for the first time, complementing the vegetables and flowers while enriching the landscape through art.

SCAF’s longstanding aim is to support and connect the local community through shared interests in both the arts and the natural environment.
