People's Emergency Briefing Community Screening - Penrith
About
A special community screening: The People’s Emergency BriefingTaking place at Penrith Parish Centre, St Andrew’s Place and hosted by Penrith Action for Community Transition.
Find out what’s happening with climate and nature, and what it means for everyday life in the UK.
Join us for a screening of the People’s Emergency Briefing - an eye-opening film featuring footage from last November’s National Emergency Briefing, which brought together leading UK experts in climate science, food security, health, economics, national security and nature.
It presents a clear, measured overview of how the climate and nature crisis is affecting everyday life in Britain - and what the evidence says about risks and responses. The purpose of the Briefing is to support informed democratic discussion and ensure that national and local decision-makers, alongside the public, share a common understanding of the scale and urgency of the challenge.
After the film there will be a short open discussion about what it means for our community and what we can do locally. This will be facilitated by Karen Jaques from The Climate Majority Project.
We will be joined on the evening for this important discussion about our future by our local MP, Markus Campbell-Savours.
Seats are free but limited so please book in advance and share this with friends, neighbours or family members. Everyone is welcome (recommended 16+)
We hope you’ll join us as we come together for our community, our future and to discuss our response.
