About

James Pearson Trio

James is well known for his swinging style of jazz and alongside his regular trio with Sam Burgess on bass and drummer Chris Higginbottom the evening promises to deliver some fine and varied jazz. Tonight, in addition to performing well known Jazz standards - made famous by Oscar Peterson, Dave Brubeck and George Shearing the trio will also create some new arrangements of well known classical music which is being performed at this year’s festival. Debussy’s music lends itself to the jazz medium particularly and his harmonies have inspired many musicians, especially Bill Evans. To be even more adventurous some of Bizet’s operatic themes will be given the Pearson twist and of course no concert of this nature would be complete without a nod to Jaques Louissier and his “Play Bach”

James will also bring his affectionate take on how a well known jazz tune could be performed , or even improved when treated by classical composers. The evening certainly promises lots of musical fun ….

Refreshments will be served in the interval
