Scotland’s recent election has shaped the environment in which charities operate, and leaders across the voluntary sector continue to navigate a complex political, policy, and financial landscape. 
 
This event is for senior leaders who want to strengthen their ability to influence and lead effectively in this context. The session will explore how leaders can operate with confidence, clarity, and purpose while responding to change and complexity.
 
Lead by Kezia Dugdale, a particular focus will be influencing across difference. We will explore how leaders can build relationships beyond their usual networks, identify shared interests, frame issues for different audiences, and negotiate in challenging financial conditions while staying true to organisational values and working constructively across party lines.
 
Participants will leave with practical insights and approaches to help them influence more effectively, build productive relationships across different perspectives, and lead with confidence in a complex and evolving environment.

Kezia Dugdale - Biography:

Kezia is the Associate Director of the Centre for Public Policy at the University of Glasgow. Having served as a Member of the Scottish Parliament, Leader of the Scottish Labour Party and more recently as Director of the John Smith Centre, Kezia brings with her a wealth of experience in law-making and public policy. She leads the Centre’s external engagement activity, providing an important bridge between the University, policy makers and the communities they serve.

Beyond her working life, Kezia is a trustee of the housing charity Shelter where she chairs Shelter Scotland and a member of the Oversight Board of “The Promise” which works on improving the lives of care experienced young people.
