About
Moving from GCSEs to Sixth Form is an exciting step, but it also brings new expectations and opportunities.Step into Sixth Form & Beyond is an interactive preparation day designed to help students develop the skills and mindset needed to thrive in post-16 education and beyond.
Throughout the day, students will explore how successful learners think, study and communicate through a series of engaging workshops, TED-style academic lectures, collaborative challenges and discussions about future pathways.
Students will gain practical strategies for:
• Independent learning and organisation
• Effective note-taking and information processing
• Metacognition – learning how to learn
• Communication and teamwork
• Critical thinking and problem-solving
• Understanding university, apprenticeships and future careers
The day will conclude with a Post-18 Futures session delivered by a former student, offering valuable insight into university life, alternative pathways and employability skills.
Whether students are considering A Levels, university or other post-16 routes, this event will provide practical tools, academic confidence and inspiration for the future.
