Queenford Lakes open-water swimming disclaimer:
The Wednesday sessions, undertaken with Oxford and Wallingford Triathlon Clubs, use private hire of the Queenford lake at Berinsfield. This means the triathlon clubs are responsible for the safety during the session as it is not run as a managed facility as for public sessions.
The triathlon clubs will provide between us, at least 1 safety person (on a kayak or paddleboard) for every 20 people with a minimum of 2 at all times regardless of total numbers. The safety people have been trained in open-water rescue and first aid but are not fully trained RSLL lifeguards.
Additionally, there will be a safety briefing at the start of each session and all swimmers must use tow floats, wear bright hats and look out for each other in the water. All swimmers must be able to swim 400m comfortably in open-water before taking part in a session.
Whilst AVTC, together with Oxford and Wallingford, take safety very seriously, there is always risk associated with open-water. By signing up to a Wednesday session at the lake, you are undertaking this at your own risk.
