Don't miss a scurry of vintage de Havilland Chipmunks flying in to Aces High Gallery on Saturday 8th August, followed by a special talk from renowned 'Chippie' enthusiast, Bill Perrins.Marking 80 years of the much-loved de Havilland Chipmunk, we're inviting owners, pilots and enthusiasts to join us for a relaxed day celebrating one of Britain's most iconic training aircraft. With Chipmunks expected to fly in throughout the morning, this is a fantastic opportunity to see these classic aircraft gathered together and meet the people who continue to keep them flying today.
Whether you're a lifelong aviation enthusiast, a former Chipmunk pilot, or simply looking for an enjoyable day out, everyone is welcome. Jet Bean Coffee will be on site serving refreshments, and visitors can also explore the gallery's extensive collection of aviation, military and automotive artwork spanning more than a century of aviation history.
Most importantly, we'd love to see as many Chipmunks as possible join us on the day. Let's see how many we can muster!
🎙️Our guest speaker:
Flight Lieutenant BILL PERRINS - flew Vulcans based at Ascension Island during the Falklands Campaign of 1982. He took part in four of the seven planned ‘Operation Black Buck’ missions, with the objective to attack Port Stanley Airport and its associated defences - which were the longest-ranged bombing raids in history at that time. Bill then became an RAF Qualified Flying Instructor and went on to fly Tornado F3s in the Air Defence role. In the world of civil aviation he flew Boeing 747s, 757s, 767s, 787s, and as a Training Captain with Virgin Atlantic Airways. Bill has also displayed various aircraft including Spitfires, P-51 Mustangs and Vulcan XH558. Having flown over 50 types, Bill is now gracefully retired and enjoying pottering about in a de Havilland Chipmunk aircraft. His debut book "From Vulcan to Spitfire and back" is out now!

11:00 – 12:00 – Talk and Q&A with Bill Perrins (inside the gallery)
12:00 onwards – Aircraft departures
16:00 onwards – Gallery closes
IMPORTANT: Please be aware that all aircraft movements, fly-ins and ground appearances are subject to weather conditions, operational requirements and serviceability. The programme may be subject to change accordingly at short notice!
This is a FREE-to-attend event, but you must please book your tickets here for entry, so we can comfortably manage numbers!
