About
This training introduces key ideas in childhood grief and helps professionals confidently support bereaved children and young people in schools and community settings, while recognising risk factors and the importance of self-care.What does the training cover?
The aim of this training is to provide participants with:
- A clear understanding of Jigsaw South East, and how we can support professionals in their work with children and young people.
- An introduction to theories of grief (including anticipatory grief) and how to better appreciate and talk about children’s and young people’s bereavement experiences.
- An understanding of how grief may present in children and young people across development.-
- An awareness of what factors influence grieving.
- Identify ways that death and dying can be approached within the school or other community.
- Appreciate the need for self care to help support work around death and dying.
Who is this training for?
This training is suitable for a wide range of professionals working across education, social care, health, and the voluntary sector. It is designed for those who come into direct contact with children, young people, and families who have been bereaved or are facing the death of a loved one.
