Baroque Collective Singers: In Praise of St Cecilia

Baroque Collective Singers: In Praise of St Cecilia

hero
The professional baroque specialists of the Baroque Collective explore Purcell's glorious music for baroque strings - Welcome to all the Pleasures and Chacony - a huge inspiration for composer Benjamin Britten whose birthday we celebrate this weekend as part of the Britten: 50 Years On festival.

We are delighted to present the world premiere of a plangent new arrangement of Ground for baroque strings by Lewes-based composer Ed Hughes inspired by Purcell's use of a repeating 'ground bass'.

And the Baroque Collective Singers perform three of Benjamin Britten's iconic and best-loved choral works.

Programme:

Purcell – Welcome to all the Pleasures
Purcell – Chacony
Ed Hughes – Ground
