Demystifying Remote Consultations
About
Join us for an engaging and interactive 3-hour workshop designed to strengthen confidence and safety in remote consulting. Through practical discussion, real-world models of remote consultations, and hands-on case practice in very small groups, we will explore the key skills needed to maximise patient safety, manage clinical risk, and reduce the likelihood of adverse outcomes or complaints. This session is designed to be supportive, practical, and directly relevant to everyday clinical practice. The aims of this session are to:
Increase your confidence in telephone triage and remote consulting so that it feels like something you CAN do (and might even enjoy).
Develop your skills in dealing with situations on the telephone you have identified as difficult.
Appreciate some pitfalls of triage/remote consulting and how they can be avoided.
Develop an understanding of some of the types of bias and how they might apply to telephone triage/remote consultations.
Explore our thresholds and rationale for arranging a F2F or video consultation – or even a direct admission to hospital where appropriate
