The rivers and us: Flood Defences Walking Tour

This event is part of the York rivers trail: the rivers and us.As part of the York rivers trail, the Environment Agency are hosting two walking tours which will take a closer look at many of the defences in the city, implemented by the York Flood Alleviation Scheme following severe flooding in 2015. The walk will start at North Street gardens, where we will then walk to Scarborough bridge and across to the Museum Gardens. We will then walk through the city to the Foss Barrier, looking over the river at Clementhorpe and finishing the walk at King's Staith. Please ensure you are dressed appropriately for the weather and wearing comfortable footwear.
About the York rivers trail
The York rivers trail: the rivers and us is a new trail along the River Ouse connecting people, place and flood resilience. Co-designed with communities, schools and artists, it uses art, storytelling and digital tools to reveal how upstream and downstream are connected - and how nature-based solutions are helping York adapt to a changing climate.
