Preston Film Service and Early Lancashire Cinema.This illustrated talk explores the history of the Preston Film Society. Based in Kinema House on Corporation Street it became one of the largest distributors of early silent movies from America and beyond and an innovator in British topical film making. Emma charts its origins in theatres from the 1890's and the story of its remarkable founders Will Onda and James Atroy, an acrobat and juggler, who became cinema pioneers in Lancashire.
An illustrated talk by Emma Heslewood.
Members free of charge. Visitors £5.
Doors open at 6:30pm for refreshments and registration.
