Join this session at Summerhouse Community Farm to learn how to harvest and package produce.Organic market gardener Dionysios "Dennis" Touliatos will lead attendees through the basics about how to harvest produce straight from the farm, how to package it to ensure food health and safety and the specific requirements for selling local fruits and vegetables.
At this session you'll:
- Learn the theory of how to harvest a range of crops efficiently.
- Understand how experienced growers pick and pack crops at scale.
- Consider packaging and what is needed to best preserve different types of food.
This session is suitable for anyone interested in growing their own food, whether in a garden, allotment, community growing space or commercially.
