Second Idol (AUS) with Blondine and Banquet
About
"One of Australia's most vital bands" – LOUD WOMEN"Second Idol are a band at the height of their powers, dishing out cerebral noise and feedback-drenched catharsis." – Backseat Mafia
"A ferocious and necessary debut for our fragmented age" – Broken8Music
"a four-piece force of hazy, punk-laced rock’n’roll fury" – TheMusic.com.au
As part of their debut UK tour, featuring performances at LOUD WOMEN Fest London and Dublin, Australian post-punks Second Idol make a stop at The Peer Hat, Manchester, with support from locals Blondine and Banquet.
Hailing from Sydney, Australia (Gadigal Land), Second Idol unleashes emotive performances fusing alternative rock, goth, grunge, shoegaze and post-punk influences.
Informed by feminism, queerness and cross-cultural identity, the band traverses concepts of power, gender and otherness.
In late 2025, the band released their critically acclaimed album, 'Mongrel'. Embracing complexity, vulnerability and questioning Australian identity, Mongrel is a gritty guitar-driven album channelling 80s and 90s post-punk and alt-rock influences and inspired by postcolonialism, queerness, and feminism.
Second Idol has supported artists including The Murder Capital, Baxter Dury, Arse, Battlesnake, Cry Club, dust, Grinding Eyes, Harry Howard and the NDE, Jen Cloher, Swapmeet and Wolf and Cub.
Stridently determined, Second Idol is a band for outsiders.
