Introducing Double Escapement, a new piano duo formed by acclaimed pianists Sam Mitchell and Ian Tindale. With individual careers spanning concert halls, festivals, and broadcasts across the globe, they unite a shared passion for contemporary music, bringing energy, precision, and compelling musicianship to this exciting repertoire for two pianos.

Australian-born pianist Sam Mitchell is known for his versatility across both classical and contemporary repertoire. His career has taken him to stages around the world, with performances across Europe, Australia, the USA, Asia, and Africa. He has appeared on BBC Radio 3, Australia’s ABC Classic FM, and New York’s WNYC. A founding member of the contemporary music collective Nonsemble, Sam has performed at TEDx and has twice featured on the influential I Care if You Listen mixtape. A committed advocate for new music, he has premiered works by composers such as Connor D’Netto, Chris Perren, Nico Muhly, and Piers Connor Kennedy. In March 2024, he released a collection of recordings for a compilation of contemporary piano repertoire on the Corella label.

Ian Tindale is a sought-after chamber musician and song pianist, praised by The Telegraph as 'a wonderfully responsive and assured pianist.' He has performed with leading artists including Roderick Williams, Ailish Tynan, and Nick Pritchard, at venues such as Wigmore Hall, the Edinburgh International Festival, and the Queen Elisabeth Competition. As Artistic Director of Shipston Song and a frequent recitalist across the UK and Europe, Ian brings a deep affinity for collaboration, and his performances have been broadcast on the European Broadcasting Network and BBC Radio and Television.
